"mad pride" is a movement of former/current mental health service users, psychiatric survivors, and avocates who attempt to reclaim "madness" and change the discourse around mental illness. The movement aims to place more power in the hands of service recipients and patients, educate the public, advocate for alternative mental health care, and de-stigmatize mental health disorders.
